Water Protection Starts At Home— especially for well owners

In rural Pennsylvania, over a million private wells serve over 3 million people. The bad news is about half of those wells fail to meet at least one of the EPA’s safe drinking water standards. Penn State Extension says many owners don’t test their water, but should. There’s a 50/50 chance it contains harmful contaminants, like nitrates, lead, or bacteria. In Pennsylvania if your drinking water source is a well, cistern, or spring, the homeowner is totally responsible for the quality and control of the water. We will discuss all aspects of drinking and household water from A to Z.
